OBJECTIVE: To assist youth & students in preparing for their future entry into the labour market. This could involve providing work experience, diagnostic testing, life skills, job readiness, community work projects or entrepreneurial skills for youth 15 - 29 years and students through the provision of a wage subsidy to employers or an allowance/bonus.

ELIGIBLE SPONSORS:
Aboriginal Bands/organizations. Aboriginal small business and/or corporations.
ELIGIBLE CLIENTS:
Youth, Youth at Risk that are 15 to 29 years of age.
ACTIVITIES:
Could include diagnostic testing, life skills, career/job readiness, voluntary/non-voluntary community work projects, work experience or any combination of.
TIME FRAME:
Negotiable.
MAXIMUM PER PARTICIPANT IS $10,000 WITH A PARTICIPANT BENEFITS/OVERHEAD SPLIT THAT IS NORMALLY 75% AND 25% RESPECTIVELY. Participant benefits include allowances/wages/completion bonuses, dependant care, transportation, personal equipment/tools/work wear, skill enhancement (instructor costs, facility rentals, books, supplies, courses) and Life skills coach/counsellor salary. Overhead/Administration costs include office rent, insurance, janitorial, telephone/fax, bookkeeping, photocopying, organization fee and Coordinator/Project Manager salary.
WAGE SUBSIDY/ALLOWANCES:
Negotiable up to a maximum of $10 per hour. Private Sector employers will normally receive a 50% wage subsidy up to the maximum.
MANDATORY EMPLOYMENT RELATED COSTS
(EI, CPP, Vacation Pay, WCB or Equivalent)
Up to 100% of wage subsidy costs. TRAINING COSTS:
Negotiable when related to youth training.
OVERHEAD COSTS:
Negotiable (see note above) Eligible costs to include: materials & supplies, travel, etc related to activities.
SPECIAL COSTS:
Only as required. Equipment lease/rental related to activities (ie. chainsaw, computer, vehicle rental) Costs to assist disabled workers (ie. special equipment, renovations) (Maximum up to $7,500).
