Course / Seat Purchase Program
OBJECTIVE: To purchase institutional training from a public or registered private institution on behalf of clients. This could involve the purchase of a single seat or the purchase of an entire course.

OBJECTIVE:
• To purchase institutional training from a public or a registered private institution on behalf of clients.
• To recommend training which will promote self-sufficiency and integration of clients into appropriate employment as well as meet labour market needs.
ELIGIBLE SPONSORS:
Aboriginal Bands/organizations. Aboriginal/Non-Aboriginal small business and/or corporations.
ELIGIBLE CLIENTS:
Must be an adult and out of school at least one year. Participant(s) should meet with an employment counselor to discuss career planning goals.
ACTIVITIES/EXAMPLES:
Preparation for vocational studies, apprenticeship programs or employment.
Examples: Native Adult Basic Education (NABE), Basic Job Readiness/Pre-Employment, Early Childhood Education, Basic Introduction to the Trades, Life Skills, Heavy Duty Equipment Operator, Native Instructor Diploma Program, etc.
TRAINING SUBSIDY:
May receive a training allowance or Employment Insurance as well as a supplement (ie child care, commuting, living away from home) while attending training.
ELIGIBLE COSTS:
Course/Seat Purchase contracts can involve the purchase of an entire course from a training institution, or the purchase of a single seat in a given course. Types of training purchased must be vocational in orientation, or academic only to the extent that they may be considered preparation for vocational training or non-degree courses which lead directly to employment.
